Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I really give away $1000 and it will not cost me
anything?
A. Probably. One, are you an Arizona taxpayer? Two, do you have
at least $1,000 in tax liability? (Consider what you paid last
year to the State of Arizona, even if you received a refund.)
Taxpayers filing singly are limited to a $500 credit, while
married filers qualify for the maximum $1000 credit.
Q. Will my employer match my gift?
A. Please check with your employer. For example, a $1000 gift
from a Raytheon employee does not cost the employee anything,
and it becomes a $2000 gift when matched by the company.
Q. Can I designate a scholarship gift to a school?
A. Yes, SAFE-Lutheran allows you to designate any of the schools
of Missouri Synod churches in Southern Arizona.
Q. Can I designate my gift to a specific child?
A. Yes, you can designate the gift to a specific child, as long
as that child is not your dependent. If you designate a child,
your gift will not be deductible on your Federal Income Tax.
Q. For what time period will scholarships be awarded?
A. SAFE-Lutheran does not plan to hold on to money. Scholarships
will be awarded quarterly.
Q. Why should members of churches who do not have Christian
Day Schools donate to SAFE-Lutheran?
A. Gifts out of love for fellow Christians and Christian
education can release local congregational funds to be used for
mission projects and other worthy causes.

A. Yes, please make sure the gift is postmarked December 31, to
make it eligible for your state tax credit and federal tax
deduction.
